I think, to achieve a big thing, I should be less distracted. I see people around me, and the ones that achieved something noble were less distracted overall. When I say distracted, I do not mean by merely playing games when supposed to be studying. I am talking about more subtle, but detrimental things.
Social distraction is one thing. When someone gives you a hard time, you are distracted from the goal. When someone laughs at you and humiliates you, your thoughts are clouded by the rage, and you are no longer running toward to goal, but to revenge that person.
Another distraction is perhaps an intrinsic distraction. Some people are born more creative, which is a respectable character in our era. However, being creative and following up with all creative ideas are huge distractions. Creativity should be only used to reinforce the original goal.
Self-doubts are also a big part of distraction. Most worthwhile goals have some risks and uncertainty involved. If we don’t take any risk, then we won’t gain anything.
Finally, physical distraction exists. When I am constantly tired from work and outside activities, my minds cannot stay sharp enough to follow through my goals.
Only once I am less distracted, I can achieve something big. If I am worried about how people will judge me or how long it will take, that means I am currently distracted.
